Elucid Lands $55M to Accelerate AI Cardiology Platform

Elucid has raised $55 million in an oversubscribed Series D financing round, bringing its total funding to date to about $185 million.

The funding includes new participation from a large medtech company, who joined as Elucid’s fourth publicly-traded strategic investor, the Boston, Mass.-based company said. The Series D also includes participation from other new and current investors, including IAG Capital Partners and Elevage Medical Technologies, a platform created by Patient Square Capital.

Proceeds will fund the company’s commercial expansion, including its FFR-CT platform, currently under FDA review, and Plaque-IQ, while supporting AI research and landmark clinical studies.

Elucid is preparing to launch its BioIntegrated FFR-CT product after FDA clearance. Designed to provide accurate, reproducible results compared with invasive FFR, the technology will complement FDA-cleared Plaque-IQ as part of Elucid’s broader clinical decision platform.

Plaque-IQ is the only FDA-cleared noninvasive technology that quantifies high-risk plaque and composition in coronary and carotid arteries with histopathology-validated accuracy. By transforming routine CT angiography into quantitative measures of plaque biology, vessel anatomy, and FFR physiology, the company hopes to improve risk stratification and personalize treatment for patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

“Analogous to oncology’s shift from population-based, one-size treatment, Elucid is applying AI to integrate anatomy, biology, and physiology to bring personalized treatment to coronary artery disease management,” said CEO Kelly Huang, Ph.D. “Physician feedback indicating that our current platform can uniquely lead to better care decisions fuels our mission to predict and personalize the prevention of heart attacks and strokes.”

In June, the company announced the availability of a new Lesion Inspection Tool for coronary and carotid plaque analysis in its Plaque-IQ software suite. The tool lets physicians interrogate lesion-specific composition and plaque burden across any vessel, which can help them better understand the patient risk profile and improve decision-making.
